I. Day One: Arrival Day

  • Arrive to campus

  • Registration/Check-in

  • Find location of sleeping quarters

  • On campus meet-&-greet

  • Off campus event with dinner and entertainment

II. Main Event Day: Focus: The Tapestry of Language and the Effects of Frayed Ends

  • 8:00AM Wake-up: Breakfast

  • Presenter 1) Deaf perspective on importance of language

  • Presenter 2) Parent(s) perspectives/experiences of deafness: comparison Medical Model, Social model, and cultural models as those fit the family unit

  • Presenter 3) Research regarding language acquisition (multi presenter segment)

  • Lunch (Goal: Local donations from restaurants)

  • Presenter 4) Infant psychology (Member(s) of AimHiTN to present)

  • Presenter 5) Impacts of Language as it relates to psychiatry and psychology (Dr. Jana Dreyzehner)

  • Break for the day (anticipated completion around 4 or 5pm)

III. Final Day: Focus: Changing Environment of Healthcare and Effects to School Nursing

  • 8:00AM Wake-up: Breakfast

  • Presenter 1) East TN Children’s Hospital Telehealth Program Medical Providers

  • Presenter 2) Tim VanderPloeg, Master’s Candidate: Telehealth in perspective

  • Presenter 3) Project ADAM with Rebecca Miller East TN Children’s Hospital

Estimated Continuing Education hours: 8

*Accreditation is in process for Nursing Continuing Professional Development (NCPD) contact hours for the agency’s conference under the direction of the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in affiliation with University of Tennessee College of Nursing
